The concept of paintingat number is quite easy. You have a numbered canvas. The numbers, for example 1, refer to a certain colour, such as red. The numbers are also on the paint pots, making it easy to determine which colour goes where. By painting the right colour on the right square, you create a beautiful work of art!
Painting by Numbers Expert has written the best tips to create the best possible result. When will you start Paint by Numbers?
Tip 1: Use the tip of the brush
When you want to start Paint by Numbers, it is important to know how to use the brush. We recommend that you only use the tip of the brush. You use much less paint and you can work more accurately.
Tip 2: Start in descending order
The most important tip is that it is wise to work in a descending order. Descending order means youstarts working from a larger area and then moves to smaller areas. This takes less time and helps you prevent accidental stains. So start with the large areas that have 1 on them, for example, and only move on to the small details later.
Tip 3: Take photos regularly
You will notice that you quickly get the hang of Paint by Numbers and that it becomes more and more fun to continue with it. By adding another colour and thus completing another song. This ensures that your painting shows more and more shape, so that you can be proud of the new step you have taken. With the photosyou keep track of it neatly, and you can also show others what you are doing in between. What could be more fun than keeping track of paint-by-numbers with a few photos? Of course you go for the complete painting that you have painted completely. However, it is a very good idea to also keep track of progress. So that you can see how you are always taking one step further, to give colour to the whole in a creative way.

Tip 4: The darkest colour first
The second important tip is to use the darkest colour in your cloth first before moving to the lightest colour. This allows you to control the composition of colours on the canvas much better. This way you can see how the colours influence each other. This way, Paint by Numbers for adults is a lot easier and more fun.
Tip 5: Paint one number at a time
Acrylic paint dries out quickly. We recommend that you use one at a time. Only one jar needs to be open. This prevents dried out pots of paint.
Tip 6: Iron wrinkles or foldsroad
Before you start with the canvas, it is useful to iron it once. If there are folds or wrinkles in the cloth, they will no longer be visible afterwards.
Tip 7: Well-lit room
Are you going to Paint by Numbers? Each number represents a colour that you naturally want to be able to see clearly. In any case, by lighting the room well and making it nice and comfortable. So that you can easily see which colours you are painting in and you can even tell apart the shades that are similar.
Tip: look at the Paint by Numbers. The more detailed the choice you make, thethe smaller the surfaces you are going to paint. In very small spaces it is best to use a magnifying glass and an extra lamp to be able to work very accurately.
For proper lighting, also take into account any shadows. Preferably use indirect light, with a lamp hanging from the ceiling. Of course, avoid standing in the light yourself, which would cause shadows to fall on your painting.
When Paint by Numbers it is best to use daylight. Doesn't that work? Then make sure that you switch on the lighting to the brightest setting. More light ensures that you can see it clearly and that the colours appear as clear as possible. And will you continue painting next time? The better you can keep the light stable, the better it works.

Tip 8: Take good care of your brushes
When you have completed a certain part you should always use your brusheswash before moving on to the new area of the painting. Only after washing the brush do you start with a new part. This will help you give your cloth a fresh texture, as colour cannot be mixed with it this way. This will make the colours stand out much better.
Tip 9: Keep your brush moist
Wet your brush before you put it in one of the paint pots. We recommend holding the brush in a cup of water and drying the excess water on a paper towel before dipping the tip of your brush into the paint pot.
Tip 10: Comfortabledesk
It is important to work from a comfortable desk. This is the only way you can paint undisturbed and also ensure that you can maintain a good posture. This way you can last a lot longer and experience the true relaxation of Paint by Numbers.
Keep in mind that it is important not to sit too far forward. Of course, you'll want to look closely at the numbers before painting them. However, a wrong posture can ultimately lead to you not being comfortable anymore. Or that you even experience problems with your neck and back. Therefore, make sure that you pay attention to your posture and that you take some time to relax every now and then.
Tip: instead of a desk you can also use a (sturdy) table for Paint by Numbers.
Tip: do you use a table easel on the desk or table? That way you ensure that you get a better oneattitude you can adopt. This prevents you from developing pain in your back or neck over time. This way you can last a lot longer and enjoy it more.
Make sure you put the desk in good light and preferably use a place where you can continue next time. If this prevents you from having to clean everything up all the time, you can also choose to paint briefly every now and then.
Tip 11: Cover it well
Even if you work carefully, it is of course possible that the desk or (work) table will occasionally get dirty. You paint with paint, which can sometimes be usedend up in places where you didn't intend to. That doesn't have to be a big deal, but it can get a bit messy.
Tip: are you going to Paint by Numbers? You use watercolor, so you can always clean the desk or table neatly. However, it is wise to cover the whole thing neatly. This way you prevent it from becoming too dirty, which makes it more difficult for you to work neatly.
Be careful of both the desk or table and the ground it is on. Don't want it to get dirty or get paint on it? Even the neatest painters will spill a few drops every now and then. Therefore, make sure you cover it neatly if you don't want it to get dirty, so you don't have to worry about it.
Tip 12: Nail remover
Did paint accidentally end up in the wrong place? No problem! It won't be a problem getting it off as all our paints are water based. For example, use nail remover to remove stains. Do not wipe over the stains, but gently dab the areawhere the acrylic paint is.
Tip 13: Help! - Dried paint
All paint supplied in the Paint by Numbers packages are water soluble. Simply add two drops of lukewarm water and you can bring the paint back to life! To prevent dried paint, we always recommend double checking whether the paint containers are closed. This prevents many problems and you can better avoid them!

Tip 15 Water and tissues
A good painter always has some water and tissues at hand. This way you ensure that you can keep going and that you can also change colours.
It's important to keep your brush slightly moist. This is the only way to apply the paint beautifully. Of course, that doesn't mean the drops have to run off. Make sure that the hairs do not dry out, because they would then no longer absorb the paint properly and Paint by Numbers will not work.
Do you want to change colour? Use a bowl of water to rinse your brush thoroughly. Then pat the hair dry with tissues. Use the water and tissues a few more times to really get the colour out. This prevents you from mixing colours together, which means you won't get the nice resultthat you want.
Tip 16: Paint by colour
You want to Paint by Numbers, and of course that doesn't mean you necessarily have to do it per colour. Yet it is useful to do so. This makes it easy to ensure that you can keep the colours neat.
It is of course not mandatory to do this, but it does make it easier for yourself to achieve a good result. So make sure you paint everything of the same colour first, and then move on to the next one.
Tip: do you paint by colour? You will notice that it is a lot easier to keep everything neatkeep. You only need to have one jar of paint open at a time, so you don't run the risk of mixing other colours together. Moreover, it is easier to keep an overview, which means you can be sure that you will achieve a good result.
Tip 17: Soothing music
This painting-by-numbers tip is a bit personal, but many people enjoy painting with soothing music. This way you can completely relax and concentrate on the painting.
Tip: do you like a lot of very different music? What matters is that it calms you down. This is of course also possible with more energetic music, if that is what you like and how you can enjoy painting.
Turn on the music as you start packing your things. This way you will be in the right mood to get started. And then turn off your phone, so that others cannot reach you for a while. That gives you a lot of peace and prevents you from getting distracted. Instead, you're just busy Paint by Numbers, completely absorbed in it.

By first doing the large areas in the specific colour you can already see what the result will be. You avoid having to spend a lot of time on the details, which you will then actually see little of in return. Instead, you can immediately colour a number of areas, after which you will notice that it will be fun to continue with the details. To add the details and connect the dots in each colour.

Tip 19: From dark to light
Do you start painting with the dark colours? Then you will probably quickly get an idea of what the total will look like. Moreover, this way you have the opportunity to add a certain character that makes more or less impression. Do you think the dark colours are emphasized too much? You can take this into account in advance, for example by adding a little more water or making the lighter colours a little stronger later.
