Casting candles: making your own candles

Whether for a romantic dinner, a relaxing bath or a cosy evening with a book on the couch - candles create a unique atmosphere. Treat your loved one and make your own candles! It is a beautiful gift and you will certainly be satisfied when you light your own candles on a cold winter evening.

Candle wax - the basis for makingcandles

The basis for making a candle is the candle wax from which the candle is made. You will find different types of wax with special effects. Beeswax is also used to make candles. The wide selection of candle wax offers you numerous design options. Wax is available for a special structure and appearance of the candle. They are placed in the candle mold and then filled with liquid wax.

Wicks for candles

The wick is the heart of a homemade candle, because it is the only thing that allows the candle to burn. There are different types of fuses available. The flat fuse and the round fuse are particularly popular. It should be noted that round fuses are more stable than flat fuses, but they have a running direction and only burn in that direction. Therefore, with a round wick, care must be taken to ensure that the wick is inserted into the candle correctly.

When making candles, note that round wicks made of braided cotton are suitable for wax granules, beeswax, composite wax and oil lamps. Depending on the size, flat wicks are wound around 3 wires each, these are used for rolling in wax plates, in combination with candle sand, gel candles and also wax granules, beeswax, composite wax or oil lamps. For stearin candles, which have a special structure, stearin wicks must be used because they are specially prepared.
