How do you make dried paint usable again?
It is not uncommon for paint buckets to not be completely resealed after use. If the paint is not properly sealed, the water content can evaporate, causing the paint to thicken or dry out. In many cases, however, dried out paint can be made usable again.
Making water-soluble paint usable again
Dried water-based paints are very easy to make liquid again by simply adding new water to the paint. First put some water in the paint bucket and wait until the dried paint has become a mushy mass. Then gradually add water while stirring until the paint has the desired thickness. If lumps have formed in the paint, unfortunately there is no other option than to throw it away.

Liquidize dried paint with turpentine substitute
Several types of paint that are not water soluble can be made reusable after they have dried. Instead of water, add turpentine substitute (available at hardware stores). Proceed in exactly the same way as with water-soluble paint.
