If you like crafting as much, Paint by Numbers and likes drawing like we do, then cleaning the brushes is a less fun activity to do. Today we are going to talk about cleaning (paint) brushes.
Do you remember when your childrenor when you were young and brought home those rock-hard brushes from crafting? Or those dirty paintbrushes that still release paint after 30 minutes under running water?
Or... That your hands are completely covered in paint because you want to clean the brushes? We started looking for the best way to clean brushes! Are you curious about the solution? Then read on!
1. Use dish soap to clean paint brushes
Fill the glass with dishwashing liquid and water and let the brush soak for half an hour. After this, you need to rinse the brush with running water. This method doesn't workreally good for cleaning brushes that are really heavily soaked with fresh paint. BUT: For brushes with stubborn, dried paint residue at the base of the brush, this is THE solution!

2. Use vinegar essence
Place the brush in a container with warm vinegar essence. We recommend being careful with the end of the brush. Metal and vinegar are often not a good combination.
You should leave it on for 5 minutes and then rinse extra well. This method works best for cleaning paint brushes when the paint is still fresh - dried residue is better removed with dish soap.

3. Fabric softener
Believe it or not, fabric softener is THE secret weapon!
Add 2 teaspoons of fabric softener to a glass of water - let the brushes soak for 10 minutes and then rinse them very well with warm water! The fabric softener makes the brushes very soft and also dissolves the dried paint in the core of the brush, which can now be rinsed out very easily.

Cleaning gloves when cleaning paint brushes
You might want to put on disposable gloves to wash the paint from your brushes, so you don't get your hands dirty.
The glovesfeel a bit like exfoliating gloves for the shower. And that's how they are meant to be. It removes the paint much faster and at the same time keeps your fingers nice and clean.
After use, wash them out and you can use them another time.

Two more tips
Our advice is not to clean the top of the paint can. Let the tin dry thoroughly and add some extra paint next time. This has the advantage that over time it becomes slightly heavier, so it no longer slips over the edge of the tin.
Another tip is: always put stickers on the paint buckets and/orcans to indicate what the paint is called and what you used it for. Especially if you tend to use similar colours like I do (white-white, cream-white, cloud-white), knowing that you grabbed that right paint makes repainting a lot easier.
Do not place the label too high as paint from the edge can easily make it unreadable.
