Efficiently stick stones with the right tool
Do you regularly work on Diamond Paintings? Then you will recognize it: large areas of colour with dozens of the same symbols... and the desire not to have to place each stone separately. The Multi Placer was designed specifically for this purpose. This allows you to place several stones at the same time - ideal for large surfaces.
In this guide you will discover everything about using the Multi-Placer pen. Includes practical tips, common mistakes, useful tools and DIY tricks.
What is aMulti Placer?
A Multi-Placer is an attachment for your Diamond Painting pen. Instead of one stone at a time, you can place 2 to 15 stones at once - ideal for smooth surfaces with similar symbols.
There are different formats:
- 2-4 stones: ideal for narrow lines or small areas
- 6-9 stones: suitable for medium surfaces
- 15 stones: only useful for straight, large blocks
10 practical tips for use
1. Only use the Multi-Placer on suitable surfaces 🎯
Choose places where at least 3–5 identical symbols are neatly next to each other. In busy or cluttered areas, a single pen is often better.
2. Provide a good shaking container 📤
Use a shaking tray with fine ribs. Shake it lightly back and forth so that the stones lie neatly with the flat side down.
3. Start small ➕
Practice first with a 3- or 4-placer. The larger the attachment, the more precisely you have to work. Mistakes will then be noticed more quickly.
4. Use the right amount of wax 🕯️
Press a small amount of wax into the attachment. Too much leaves residue, too little creates poorly sticking stones.
5. Work in sections with washi tape 🧾
Divide your canvas into manageable areas with tape. If necessary, put crosses on completed areas so that you don't do anything twice.
6. Keep your pen clean 🧽
Clean the attachment regularly with acotton swab and lukewarm water to remove dust, wax residue or dirt.
7. Work calmly and evenly ✋
Press the stones gently with a straight movement. Working too fast or crookedly results in sloppy lines.
8. Check regularly from a distance 🔍
Take some distance every now and then to see if the lines are straight. You can then easily make small corrections.
9. Keep several attachments at hand 🛠️
Plastic attachments wear out faster with intensive use. Handy to have a spare in different sizes at home.
10. Combine your tools smartly 🧠
Use the single pen for corners and details, the Multi-Placer for areas, and tweezers for corrections. This way you get the tightest result.
Common mistakes (and how to avoid them)
- 🔸 Stones are crooked in the tray → Multi-Placer picks them up diagonally
- 🔸 Wrong colours picked → sort and check carefully!
- 🔸 Press too hard → slide or break pebbles
- 🔸 Working too hastily → lines are crooked, less attractive end result
Comfort tip for longer sessions
Wrap a bit of washi tape or foam rubber around your pen for extra grip. Or choose an ergonomic pen made of wood or metal if you work often and for long periods of time.
In summary: work faster, easier and tighter
The Multi-Placer makes Diamond Painting a lot more efficient, especially with large areas of colour. You save time and manual strength and at the same time maintain a nice, sleek result.
