Help – the colours don't match my original photo!
After a long search, you have finally found your favourite image, ordered it and waited expectantly for delivery. The time has finally come – your Diamond Painting has arrived! You unpack everything with great enthusiasm and start straight away... but then you notice: the colours in the package don't look like your photo at all!
Don't panic – this is completely normal. We explain why this is the case, and what you need to know before you worry.
Pixels and gradients – this is how your photo is converted
Every digital image existsmade up of thousands of tiny pixels – all coloured dots. Even if your dog appears completely black to your eye, there are often all kinds of colour shades hidden in the digital image: from dark gray and anthracite to brown or even bluish-black nuances. All those shades are necessary to realistically display depth, texture, light and shadow.
If you used just one colour for, say, black fur, the end result would be flat and lifeless – just a black spot with no detail. That is why our designers consciously use multiple, subtle colour variations to maintain the natural effect.
A customer example
“I was surprised that my white cat suddenly seemed to turn beige and gray too. But when the painting was finished, I was speechless! From a distance it looks so real – with depth, shadows and beautiful eyes. It really turned out beautiful. Thank you for the service and quality!”

For example, if the photo was taken with a flash, parts of the image may be too light, shiny or distorted - such as an animal's fur or eyes. This can also lead to colour differences.
Format = details
Also the format of your Diamond Painting has influence. Do you want a beautiful, detailed end result?

Extra tips for a perfect Diamond Painting result
Here are practical tips to help you get started:
- Take a photo in daylight: Natural light prevents shadows and distorted colours.
- Avoid filters: Filters make a photo more beautiful, but affect the real colours – and therefore also your end result.
- The more detail, the larger the canvas: For faces, animals or complex backgrounds we recommend at least 40x50 cm.
- Please be patient: At first the painting may seem messy, but from a distance you can see the end result come to life.
