Long ago, the oldest artists on our planet kept things simple, using the cave as a painting and their hands as brushes. According to a new study, it now appears that the cave drawings in a cave in Sulawesi, Indonesia, dating back 40,000 years, are the oldest known human art ever. The drawings are a few thousand years older than the Grotte Chauvet or “Cave of Forgotten Dreams” in France – the other record holder. A film was also made of this.

Scientists discover the oldest work of art in the world (40,000 years)

The discovery on Sulawesi shows that these cave paintings can be found around approximately the same period of the Eurasian world. It therefore seems that this human behavior can probably be traced back further, as was said by the archaeologists who found this treasure.
